3. PART-TIME JOB OPPORTUNITY FOR 1-2 PRE-HEALTH STUDENTS
My name is Pam and I am a physically disabled woman, but still young at heart. My primary disability is cerebral palsy, but I am also spinal cord injured and have an inherited skin disorder. I use a wheelchair and have a speech impairment. Most people discover that they can understand me with only a little practice. Concentration is the key. I am looking for a part-time personal assistant / caregiver who helps me live and enjoy my life fully. You would also assist me in exercising in the warm pool at the YMCA 2 or 3 times a week. You will help me get to the pool, shower, dress, etc., as well as go into the water with me. There may be other exercise opportunities as well. Much of what you will do may seem ordinary, yet I assure you it will be important.
-No experience is needed. My team and I will teach you anything you need to learn. I have had many student assistants through the years and remain in touch with quite a few. While I am unique and you will be learning to assist me, I welcome the enthusiasm and creativity students bring to the job.
-You must be 18 years and over
-You must have a good driving record
-You must be responsible, patient, and resourceful -It definitely helps to have a sense of humor -Also, because there is personal care involved, I am looking for a gal.
(It's just more comfortable for me, I suppose.) -Finally, being at least 5’ 3” and over will make helping me transfer easier on both of us.
I live just North of the Zoo, between Hillcrest and North Park (92103 area).
I receive government funding to pay my assistant/caregivers. The current rate is $9.85 per hours. Benefits Include Workers' Comp and unemployment.
You become eligible for health and dental insurance benefits with a sustained 80+ hours a month (though there is an enrollment waiting list).
I expect to have at least 20 hours a week available (this could increase over time). I currently need someone for:
-Tues and Friday, 3:00 to 8:00 pm
-Saturdays, 8:30 am to 1:30 pm, every Sat, plus 5 pm to 8:00 pm every other Saturday (may soon to become every Saturday).
-One additional four hour shift TBD.
This schedule is somewhat flexible and can be split between two people.
For information and to apply:
Please email me, Pam, at firstname.lastname@example.org I look forward
to hearing from you.
